Hi folks we are here in Central War so I’ve met Octavian who is um a paramedic and he’s not volunteer paramedic yeah and he does he goes around helping homeless people and he paid for for all this equipment by himself is is doing extremely good job and yeah Octavian how come what what happened that you become a volunteer paramedic uh actually uh it uh was uh h like three four years ago mhm and uh I helped someone in Warso when he was uh when he did when he has a seizure after um he did you know someone had a seizure yes yeah seizure and then I uh called the emergency medical services and then uh I helped this person and I provide the basic life support right uh but but uh when I did this I thought uh as I thought I was thinking about it doing that like professional that you could do that every day you were good at it yeah you were not afraid of helping was a homeless person you helped right so Octavian took me around so showing me places where homeless people gather there and told me about the the the problems homeless people face here and what is the main causes uh for help that Octavian helps he said there is a lot of drug use yes in Warso yeah drugs and alcohol also uh there is uh very uh very big problem with some with homeless people with mental health uh crisises and things like that so Mhm uh so if they need any support like uh someone told me uh that’s actually and a nice uh I guess interesting fact interesting fact that someone some time ago told me that sometimes words and uh normal conversation with the patient helps more then medical you know physical intervent intervention right so sometimes you just yeah I’ve seen I’ve seen octavan actually come going and then talking to homeless people who were like kind of sleeping just making sure they are fine that’s the job yeah a lot of cases is is you basically talking to them asking them if they are fine do you know do you know do you have any numbers about the the situation in in in wars or Poland in general about homeless people statistics yeah Um I actually don’t uh follow it because uh it’s very very hard to you know uh follow the statistics but I have to also follow the you know the BLS procedures because and uh and things like uh new meds you know evidence based meds right you follow what’s happening Ah because medicine medical profession would you like to I have to I have to always refresh my you know uh refresh my knowledge because everything is uh changing like very very fast right you are only you’re not even 18 right are you planning to study like med medicine or being a doctor i plan I plan to be a paramedic and a psychologist but maybe I will be a doctor we will see right well well done the experience you getting here on the street is is priceless basically how many people you you you may say you’ve attended in your in your in your prof in the past i don’t uh count because I think it’s not important to count how many i think the main and the the main situ main main purpose mhm main purpose is to just help just to help right that’s amazing so folks stay with us uh and watch what’s happening in Warso is there anything else would you like to say yes uh to people who’s watching don’t be afraid to some sometimes when you see someone uh laying on the floor and uh probably you think “Oh he’s drunk he’s drunk.” No he might have uh like very big uh there’s very big uh there’s very big pro probably he’s having some medical uh issues issues but maybe he’s drawing but when you you can only verify it by asking him if you are okay when he’s not responding and check his uh breath if he’s breathing mhm uh and then you you can only then verify if he’s really drunk or he needs medical attention of course if he needs just call medical services if you don’t know what to do they will tell you on the on the phone right so yeah if you see somebody lying on the floor don’t don’t ignore that person just call Don’t be scared to don’t do it just ask if everything is all right and then you can always call for help all right thank you very much Clean all the best to you thank you [Music] glor [Music]
